Open Air Theatre return for Lionel Richie

Music icon Lionel Richie is returning to the Yorkshire coast next summer for a not-to-be-missed headline show at the UK's largest open air arena.

The global superstar is today delighted to reveal he will bring his stunning live show to Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Tuesday 9 June.

Supergrass at Scarborough Open Air Theatre

Supergrass are back and they are heading to Scarborough Open Air Theatre in summer 2020!

The BRIT, Q, NME and Ivor Novello award-winning band reformed earlier this year and will play the UK’s largest open air arena on Saturday 20 June.

General Election Result

Robert Goodwill of The Conservative Party has been duly elected as Member of Parliament for the Scarborough and Whitby Constituency in the 2019 General Election, with a winning margin of 10,270 votes, retaining his seat that he has held since 2005.

After voters went to the polls on Thursday 12 December, the count took place through the night in the Grand Hall at Scarborough Spa and the results were announced at 2.45am on Friday 13 December.

Warm up the Borough scheme

Thousands of homes in the Borough of Scarborough could benefit from a new scheme being launched this week.

In a new partnership, we have joined forces with energy saving and heating services company, J & J Crump & Son Ltd, to launch Warm up the Borough, a scheme which aims to help householders in Scarborough, Filey and Whitby make their homes warmer and more affordable to heat.

Polling station changes

Three polling stations in Scarborough have changed location for the forthcoming General Election on Thursday 12 December.

Friarage School is no longer being used as a polling station. In a permanent change, voters will instead vote at Queen Street Methodist Church, Central Hall, Queen Street, YO11 1HQ.

Barrowcliff School is no longer being used as polling station. Voters will instead vote at Briercliffe Children’s Centre, 76 Briercliffe, Scarborough, YO12 6NS.

£35,000 fine for Selective Licensing breaches

The landlord of two properties in our Selective Licensing Area has been fined £35,000 for breaches of his Selective Licence following a prosecution brought by the council.

At the hearing in Scarborough Magistrates Court on 26 November, Mr Raja, director of ASR Estates (UK) Limited, pleaded guilty to the following five charges:

Indie-rock giants Snow Patrol are heading to the Yorkshire coast next summer for what promises to be a sensational night at Scarborough Open Air Theatre.

The band behind such anthems as Chasing Cars, Run, You're All I Have, Signal Fire, Called Out in the Dark and Take Back the City will bring their sensational live show to Britain’s largest open-air arena on Saturday 4 July.

Community tree planting event in Eastfield

The finishing touches to Scarborough Open Air Theatre’s festive spectacular, Scarborough Sparkle, are complete and the venue is ready to celebrate Christmas in style from Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December.

Festive stalls, selling the very best Christmas gifts and food produce, will be open for business from 4pm on Friday, followed by the formal event opening at 6pm by the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough, who will be joined on stage by The Grinch.
