New TV series shows off the stunning Yorkshire coast
The long awaited BBC television sitcom, Scarborough, hits the screens tonight with the prospect of bringing the fantastic scenery of the Yorkshire coast, once again, into the homes of millions of viewers across the country and beyond.
Scarborough and the wider Yorkshire coast area have long provided the backdrop to films and well-loved television series such as the Heartbeat and The Royal where, very often, the spectacular scenery has had as bigger starring role as the leading actors who star in them.
We work with partners, such as Screen Yorkshire, to capitalise on filming opportunities in the area, recognising that high profile exposure of the area’s natural beauty plays a big part in showcasing the area to potential visitors, investors and those looking to relocate.
Cllr Steve Siddons, Leader of Scarborough Borough Council said:
"I had the privilege of being in the audience last night for the preview of the first two episodes of the eagerly awaited 'Scarborough' sitcom. It was wonderful to see that the actors in the series, along with the writer, Derren Litten, have a great affinity and love for the town and the people that live and visit here.
"The shots of Scarborough and the surrounding area are fantastic and the show promises to be a great advertisement for the Yorkshire coast. We look forward to welcoming the many visitors who will come to visit the places they see on television and enjoy everything our borough has to offer."
