Lease available for Scarborough Mere water-ski lake
Scarborough Borough Council is advertising the lease for the water-ski lake at Scarborough Mere and is inviting tenders from those interested in taking on the lease of the clubhouse premises and the lake with a view to running water sports or recreational activities from the site, which are in keeping with the setting of the Mere.
The opportunity has arisen after the water-ski club left the site in February, following many years using it as the home of water skiing in Scarborough, when their existing lease came to an end.
The water-ski lake is located at the southern end of the Mere and measures approximately three acres in size. The tender includes the lake, former clubhouse, boat shed and use of the slipway and jetty.
Bryan Walker said:
"We are grateful for the many years the water-ski club has given the community by running and maintaining a club at Scarborough Mere. Though membership numbers had reduced by the end of the lease, the club was always a good custodian of the site and maintained a valued facility for the area.
"Moving forward, there is now an exciting opportunity for another organisation or individual to come forward, take on the site and provide new leisure and or water borne activities for the community."
