Historic Scarborough Town Hall to host weddings

Wednesday, 7 March 2018

Couples looking to say ‘I do’ against the stunning coastal backdrop of Scarborough South Bay will soon have a new venue to choose from for their special day.

Scarborough Borough Council has recently been successful in obtaining a premises licence to hold civil marriages and civil partnerships at Scarborough Town Hall and now the grand splendour of the Jacobean-style Victorian building and its sea view gardens will be showcased at the venue’s first ever wedding fayre on Thursday 29 March between 5pm and 8pm.

The wedding fayre will give anyone planning a wedding or special occasion the opportunity to tour the venue and speak to the special events co-ordinators about how to achieve their dream occasion. A wide range of suppliers that specialise in all aspects of weddings will also be on hand with great ideas and advice on the latest trends for 2018.

The Town Hall has five elegant rooms licensed for civil ceremonies, which can hold up to 60 people, making it an ideal venue for those looking for a more intimate atmosphere in which to host their nuptials. The rooms are also available for those wanting to renew their wedding vows or celebrate a naming ceremony in front of their family and friends. A variety of catering options and extra special touches can be arranged through carefully selected suppliers.

The Town Hall’s formal gardens have splendid views of Scarborough South Bay and the dramatic cliff topped coastline to Filey, making them ideal for perfect photo opportunities.

Cllr Sandra Turner, Scarborough Borough Council Cabinet Member for Communities said:

"We are delighted that we are now able to open up our wonderful Grade II listed venue for weddings and special occasions. Each room has its own individual character and appeal, including the Civic Parlour which has glass doors that open out into the gardens with their magnificent views of the beach, castle and cliffs. All the staff involved in our new venture can’t wait to get started and I would encourage anyone currently considering venues for their wedding or special occasion to come along to the wedding fayre and see for themselves what the Town Hall has to offer."
