First ceremony celebrated at Scarborough Town Hall
Scarborough’s newest weddings and ceremonies venue, which provides stunning views of the Yorkshire coast, has celebrated its very first ceremony.
On 22 August, Scarborough Town Hall hosted a wedding vow renewal ceremony, which signalled the start of a new venture for one of the town’s most historic locations and the continuation of loving marriage for Scarborough couple, Mr and Mrs Thorpe, who chose the venue for their vow renewal in celebration of their tenth wedding anniversary.
The ceremony took place in the venue’s impressive Council Chamber in the early evening, where the couple were joined by 60 guests. The grand Civic Parlour and Town Hall gardens were the location for the post ceremony reception and the ‘renew-weds’ made the most of the historic backdrop with photographs inside and outside under the summer sun in the gardens, which overlook Scarborough’s beautiful South Bay and provide views of the castle headland and the coast towards Filey.
The Grade II listed Scarborough Town Hall, which was built in the 1840s, was licenced for civil ceremonies earlier this year. The venue can be hired for weddings, vow renewals and naming ceremonies, which are licenced to take place both inside and outside. Scarborough Town Hall’s central town location against the backdrop of the Yorkshire coast makes it the perfect choice for those looking for wonderful sea and coast views for their photographs with the convenience of a wealth of accommodation choices for guests and good transport links.
Kerry Russett, Manager for Ceremonies at Scarborough Town Hall said:
"It was wonderful to host our first ever ceremony last month and see our special venue in the heart of Scarborough being central to Mr and Mrs Thorpe’s special day. We’ve had some great feedback to date, with people booking weddings and other ceremonies with us for 2019 commenting on how Scarborough Town Hall was exactly what they were looking for – a civil venue, different to a registry office or hotel and somewhere unique. We now look forward to hosting many more special occasions and helping to make many more dreams come true."
